Depending on how long you have been away from home, it would be a good idea to spend some time preparing for what you might face. Returning home can creep up on you faster than you realize, some may see the event coming and for others it may creep up on and surprise. Knowing what your will help you make the transition. On the flip side it’s important remain present for the final weeks of travels or life before you return home. This is still an experience and you don’t want to miss or wish these moments away by living in the future.
Travel teaches us to grow, expand and see things from a different perspective. Seeing new cultures, different people and going to a place you have never been before is enough to spark inspiration. New ideas come flooding in, insightful ways of how to live, contribute and be a better person. Deep seeded beliefs can start to break down and thought change as the world opens the mind to see different points of view and a perspective that seems more true to our self.So how do you take that and turn it into action, reality and a lifestyle change that will impact your life and the world around you?
Another winter flickers past. We’re about to turn the calendar to September. Did you set new years resolutions? ...Eight months ago? Or perhaps your rolling your eyes at the fact I even mentioned them. Statistics show that most people give up their resolutions 2-3 weeks into the New Year and only 8-10% of people actually follow through with them. That seems quite a high number if you ask me.
A friend of mine looked me dead in the eyes and said: "You have the most amazing life." I froze as my eyes glassed over with tears and my face started to burn. "Every time I see what you're doing your adventuring somewhere new, climbing mountains, jumping off waterfalls or hanging out at the beach." Still frozen as the lump in my throat almost blocked off my airways. I had no response....she was absolutely right.
Isn't it easy to lose yourself in this world? Now even more so than 10 or 20 years ago. We live in the age of information where anything we want to know is at the end of our fingertips, quite literally. Social media lets us peer into the lives of so many. Comparison is easy, judgment is easier as we really are only perceiving the world with our own eyes and thoughts and creating a story around what we choose to focus on.
