Travel Diaries #14: Borneo...this I did not expect.

The excitement of travelling to a new country fluttered around my stomach. Seeing new places is something I live for. Im curious to learn about new cultures, see new sites and wonder at the world at large. So you can imagine how I was feeling as I stepped off the aeroplane at Kuching in Borneo. I had heard of Borneo before but had never really looked into it. Truth be told, I had to look on a map to see where it was located, for those of you wondering like I was it sits above the western side of Indonesia in the south china sea. Comprised of three countries Bruni, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Travel Diaries #13: Ushuaia - the end of the world.

Travel Diaries #13: Ushuaia - the end of the world.

The flight to the end of the world was smooth until landing. I don't know if it had anything to do with how far south we were but I have never experienced the plane rumble, bounce and shake so much. Add to this the gasps, screams and worried noises from the cabin and you have one scary experience. Nonetheless I arrived, I felt a good vibe about Ushuaia, Fin del Mundo (the end of the world).

Travel Diaries #12: Mission to Uruguay

Travel Diaries #12: Mission to Uruguay

Travel Diaries #11: Climbing Villarrica

Travel Diaries #11: Climbing Villarrica

My eyelids were heavy and the air I breathed in was cold. Like sardines in tin, we were squished into a rickety old mini van. The van clunked up the mountain and we bounced around inside. The day had not yet dawned but as I forced my eyes open, I caught glimpses of the snow covered terrain outside.

Travel Diaries #8: A day of white at Perito Moreno

Travel Diaries #8: A day of white at Perito Moreno

The looks on there faces said it all. As I checked into my hostel, others were arriving back from their day at Perito Moreno Glacier. The day had been perfect. Not a cloud in the sky as far as the eye could see. A crystal clear day, beaming with sunshine. Mountainous panoramic views surrounded the cute little town of El Calafate. An exciting day lay ahead. Night fell and I swapped stories with new found friends. Outside the snow began to fall.

Travel Diaries #7: The Atacama Desert

Travel Diaries #7: The Atacama Desert

The Atacama desert lies in the North of Chile. Made up of salt basins and sand, many say this is the driest desert in the world. As with all deserts temperatures rise rapidly in the day and fall below zero at night. Water is scarce and dust is everywhere.

Travel Diaries #6: Trekking the Inca Trail

Travel Diaries #6: Trekking the Inca Trail

When I packed my life into a bag in 2011 and jetted off to South America with no plan, trekking the Inca trail was the only part of my trip I'd arranged before leaving home. I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. A trek that you need to secure a booking on three months prior to arrival? That must be something - and it really was. A majestic place one must experience to believe!
